How would I know if I’m experiencing hearing loss? Chances are you’ll be the last to know. The people around you will notice it first. Loss of hearing is called the ‘invisible disability’, but the effects of hearing loss is very visible. Hearing loss however, is not a sentence… As adults we know that we cannot be skilled in every area of learning and mastery and yet we put tremendous pressure on our children to be good at everything! Children have to master reading, writing, spelling, and maths in just a few years. Then we still expect them to excel in sports, and master the art of functioning well in a group of competitive peers. This is illustrated in Life is more than Surviving. High levels of stress can have a direct link to a child’s ability to learn.
