About us

The Knysna Hearing and Health Centre was established in 2000 by professional therapist and practitioner, Hannelie Kemp who had been involved with children for many years on an educational and therapeutic level.

about

The centre specialises in optimal functioning associated with learning, hearing and communication. Various counselling and intervention methods are used to assist each individual client, with the focus on self empowerment.

With a passion to empower the youth, the centre started a community outreach project in 2013, called ‘Hope for Hearing’ which exists to give deaf and hard-of-hearing babies, toddlers and teenagers every opportunity to develop normally and become part of the hearing world.

Meet Hannelie Kemp

Hannelie’s academic background includes an Honours diploma in Psychology, a diploma in Pre-Primary Education, an Art degree, Trauma Counselling and a Masters degree in Educational Psychology. She studied at the Department of Communication Pathology at the University of Pretoria.

The knowledge obtained from various courses in America, and a QEEG course in Prague, are used to the benefit of her clients and students. She is one of 5 trainers of Berard AIT practitioners in the world and one of 12 private trainers who has been appointed by the Biofeedback Institute of America to teach Neuro- and Biofeedback to professionals.

Hannelie is registered with the HPCSA as a Trauma Counsellor as well as a Hearing Aid Acoustician.

Professionals worldwide have been taught by Hannelie and she presented papers and workshops at world conferences on Autism, Ego State Therapy and Neurofeedback. However, her biggest love remains helping the individual to obtain optimal functioning, whether in the classroom, the boardroom or on the sports field.

We cannot change the wind, but we can adjust the sails.
